Frequently asked questions

Our customers have a lot of questions. Here are some of the most frequently asked…

Can you provide bespoke options such as hand made units and panelling?

As a qualified Carpenter / Joiner, there's not too many ideas that will be challenging. We will be happy to guide and assist you on all of your ideas thoughts.

Do I need to provide my own materials, or will AJD supply them?

Most customers will have the bathroom suite secured, however, it is best to let us choose what other materials are needed, given our technical knowledge. All works are carried out with long term water tightness in mind using the most modern systems and tanking methods.

Do I need to supply my own materials?

No. AJD will advise on the required materials within our quote, based on our technical knowledge and experience.

Do you carry out works on a call-out basis?

We can do either. depending on the urgency. Emergency call outs are based on an initial cost for the first hour. No works will be undertaken before the client is aware and agreeable to the known costs. Routine maintenance will be treated as quoted work depending on available knowledge associated with the works. If information is unknown at the time of the call, an assessment will be made and then communicated to gain approval.

Does the work include electrics?

AJD are not electrically qualified although we can coordinate the works as part of our scope, under the guidance of a qualified electrician.

Does the work include worktops?

This is dependent on the type of worktops to be fitted. Standard tops will be included in the quote. Any stone, granite or quartz tops will require templating by the supplier / installer of the tops. We will however coordinate and communicate throughout this process to ensure a perfect result.

How do I know if I need a carpenter or a joiner for my project?

If your project involves structural work or rough construction with wood, you likely need a carpenter. For more refined work involving intricate fittings or bespoke pieces, a joiner would be more suitable. We will guide you through your options.

How long does a flooring installation take?

This depends on a number of factors including the following.....
  • Access and availability of materials plus removal of existing finish
  • Total area to be covered
  • Scope including trims, skirtings, beads etc
  • Type of installation - Floating, nailed or glued etc

How long will my project take to complete?

The timeline can vary depending on the scope and complexity of the kitchen project. AJD will provide an estimated timeframe based on our assessment of the work required.

What materials are supplied?

Usually, the customer has ordered the kitchen and appliances which are required on site, prior to commencement. Other required materials will be quoted initially. Any 'unforeseen' issues will be communicated immediately, in order to avoid surprises.

What scope is offered with Shopfitting?

Our approach is to deliver the most efficient result with an industrious mindset, allowing our customers the advantage of multiple options if possible. Communication and coordination is high on our list of priorities. You may require a refurbished or new counter, a completely new look or a tweak to allow a temporary pop-up. We can help you to plan your ideas with an open mind. We cover our works with adequate H&S management

What's the difference between carpentry and joinery?

Carpentry typically involves the construction, installation, and repair of wooden structures, such as framing, flooring, and cabinetry. Joinery focuses on the intricate work of creating joints and fittings, like doors, windows, and stairs.
